Optically Illusive Ceiling

This ceiling is made out of plaster and is in the hallway leading to the Cistine Chapel. Pretty cool looking, and even cooler when you consider that it’s completely flat. That’s right the whole thing is two-dimensional. It’s merely painted onto the plaster in such a way that it appears to have three dimensions. The picture doesn’t really do it justice, but it was pretty mind-blowing when Ian told us this. You’re going to have to take my word on this, in the same way that we took Ian’s word (what do you want from me? It’s not like could have tested him by climbing up a ladder and touching it. Where would we have gotten a ladder? Come on, don’t be ridiculous.)
